I recently dropped by to check out Rome’s newest luxury accommodation, in the 16th century Palazzo Costaguti. Anyone who has been to Rome knows the building from the piazza it faces onto: Piazza Mattei, and the delectable “turtle fountain” at its center. But few have had the privilege of entering Palazzo Costaguti, not to speak of the glorious piano nobile. The lavish apartment has been expertly renovated and furnished to compliment the ceiling frescoes by Renaissance masters the Zuccari brothers and Cavalier D’Arpino. That’s why the new initiative, by Costaguti family heirs, is now open to a select clientele of guests. It’s not a hotel; really just a glorified AirBnB (in fact, it is also available on that platform). For a group of up to 14 friends, looking for a special experience in the historic center of Rome, I’d highly recommend the Palazzo Costaguti experience.
